The Here and There trips or Theatre Group trips on the website

Both sorts of trips are listed on the website under 'Groups'. If your Groups list is arranged in alphabetical order, scroll down to where Theatre Trips are listed with a “A” prefix to the Group name and Here and There trips with a "AA” prefix to the Group name. If there are places available, the Status will be shown as "Apply to Join". Click on this link to apply for the particular trip. Please note, although you may apply to join by this method, only payment of the amount due secures a place on any trip and confirmation from the Group Leader. If the Group Status is "Waiting List at pos. X", you may apply to join the waiting list for the trip at the position indicated.

Here and There Trips

Please read the following carefully if you intend to book for any trip.-

Any Member of Thorpe Bay U3A may book a day trip that is advertised on the website. Only members of Thorpe Bay U3A may book a day trip. It is best to book as early as possible if you want to be sure of a place for a particular visit. You can book at any monthly General Meeting or by email to shirl.turner245@gmail.com. If the excursion is fully booked, it is a good idea to put your name on the waiting list as you may be able to replace someone who drops out.

Theatre Group

Theatre trips are open to all Thorpe Bay U3A Members. We provide a great opportunity to go to the theatre knowing you will be sitting with other U3A Members, so you can make new friends and benefit from group booking reductions. The Theatre Group is run by Pam Dewey and a team of helpers. Trips are advertised at the monthly General Meetings, on the website, on the Facebook pages and by email to those who wish to join the mailing list. All members are welcome to join, there is no limit.

When Theatre trips are arranged to shows at Southend's Cliffs Pavilion or Palace Theatre, we make our own way there and meet in the foyer where tickets are distributed to attending Members.

We have recently started running a few trips to London theatres. We either meet to travel together by train or, for parties with larger numbers of Members, by coach. We also support local amateur dramatic groups, such as the Southend Operatic & Dramatic Society, Leigh Operatic & Dramatic Society and the Southend Shakespeare Company, who all receive excellent reviews from our Members.

Booking (for either the Here and There trips or Theatre Group trips)

This may be done at the monthly General Meetings, online, or by email. Please note that payment secures your place. London theatres require immediate payment.

Cheques should be made payable to Thorpe Bay U3A, with your Membership Number and the name of trip (or the show, as appropriate) written on the back. Members at either the Here and There or Theatre Group tables in the Lounge at monthly General Meetings are able to accept cheques. You may also post them to: -
